A normal peanut butter cup is 260 calories, 15g fat, 29g carbs(25 of that is sugar), and 6g protein.

YIKES!!!!

These totally amazing new peanut butter cup patties are only:
40 calories
3g fat
7g carbs
6g fiber
1g of sugar alcohol
1g protein

Yes, you are reading that correctly. Only 1 point for two of these bad boys, and 0(count 'em) 0 net carbs.

As an added benefit, they haven't used maltitol this time around so the sugar alcohol is much lower than almost all their other products.

So, what the heck is the deal with this product listed at $0 right now anyways? Well, like I said, we don't have a finished product, so we can't sell it.

Ingredients: polydextrose, peanuts, oligofructose, erythritol, cocoa butter, chocolate liquor, calcium carbonate, whey protein concentrate, salt, soy lecithin, sucralose

Most people who are looking for and enjoy healthy foods often tell me it is hard to find bars or candy types of products that are truly low calorie. The fat free bars are packed with sugar and carbs, the low carb bars are filled with fat, and most of them taste…well…awful.

So when I first stumbled onto the Chocolite bars I immediately threw away all my other bars. When I want something sweet I choose the chocolate candy bars and when I want a little something that has protein I eat the protein ones( I admit I'm a bit of a protein junky from my weight lifting days.)

Not only do the Chocolite bars taste better than any others I have tried, they are super low in carbs(1-2 net grams), super high in fiber (8-9grams), and super low in fat(1-2g.)

And now, Chocolite has gone and remade the greatest candy on Earth, the peanut butter cup. I figured to do a true taste test I had to try them out on my friend Theresa who actually, no joke, consumes 3-4 of the mini Hershey's Peanut Butter cups every day (we get them for free at work.) I gave her a mini baggie full of a couple patties and proceeded to my desk. 10 minutes later she walked up and asked if I had any large boxes, indicating about 2 feet by 2 feet with her hands. I asked, "You mean, like shipping boxes? Are you moving? I have extra ones at the store." And she laughed and said, "No, I mean do you have a box this big full of those chocolates because I will take it." Of course I don't have one, but she has been bugging me for more samples ever since. She added herself to our email list recently so I'm sure she'll appreciate the story :)

One question that has come up about the peanut butter cup patties is whether they are overflowing with maltitol. You see, many of the low carb chocolates use maltitol and some people who have sensitive stomaches can't handle the ingredient. It turns out, the new peanut butter cup patties don't have any maltitol. Crazy I know, but true. They must have decided it would be best to do without this time around.

I've been getting peppered with questions since yesterdays email in regards to the price. The website still lists the price as $0.00 and people want to know if I plan on selling the PB's for some crazy price like $10 or more considering how much everyone wants them.

I haven't said anything yet about price because I'm not 100% sure where to set it. However since I've had so many people asking me about the price - I wanted to pull back the curtain a bit and give you a glimpse into what I'm thinking. If you'd like to voice your opinion, just shoot me an email in response and I'll take your thoughts into consideration.

In order to guage where it should be priced I grabbed a bunch of 'standard' bars at my local Exxon gas station while on my way back home after shipping on Sunday night. If you check out the picture you can see I chose:Bars

Met-Rx Big 100 Bar
South Beach Living
PowerBar
Balance Bar

The nutritionals on these bars are pretty dismal. The calories range from 200-370, the fat is 3-6g, and the carbs are 21-50g.

So if these are the standard bars that everyone buys, then a low calorie, low carb, low fat product like the Peanut Butter Cup Patties and all the chocolite bars that actually taste good logically have a much higher value. But how much higher? Is the taste and nutritionals a 10% higher value, 20%, 50%? In reality I personally would say it is closer to 100%.

I'll admit, I used to eat these Met-Rx 100 Bars...a lot ( with at least a liter of water to wash it down.) But now with Chocolite, I have completely stopped, because none of these other bars are worth it.

Ok, so what about price?!!!!

The Met-Rx Big 100 Bar was $3.49
The South Beach Living bar was $2.69
The PowerBar was $2.19
The Balance bar was $1.79

So, with that in mind. Where should the Patties and all the Chocolite for that matter, be priced? If they are of only 50% greater value then they should be almost $4.49 no matter what bar you are buying.

But, why put it so high? Why not offer a little value in the price as well? Why not price it around $2.49? It would be less than the Met-Rx, less than the South Beach, and only slightly higher than the PowerBar. Well worth it, I would say.

So, that is what we are going to do. We are officially pricing it at $2.49.

Fortunately, I've been thinking up this crazy idea for our current customers like I mentioned in the last email. I haven't ironed out all the kinks and I'm worried if I actually do offer it we will be overwhelmed. I was thinking that even though we plan on selling the Peanut Butter Cup Patties at $2.50. Maybe we should offer a brief discount and let our current customers purchase them for $1.99. That would actually be a 20% discount over where they will eventually be priced. But, remember, I'm not 100% sure about this. In the end I may set it higher since it is worth it.

If we do offer the discount, I can definitely guarantee it will only be for a short time to reward our current customers. After that we would have too many outsiders getting deals they shouldn't be.

So, let me think it over and tomorrow I will let you know where we stand with the discount. Also, I should have a better idea of when I will officially make the peanut butter cup patties for sale in the store and online, hopefully Tuesday or Weds.

Within 20 minutes of sending our latest email update about the price of the peanut butter cup patties I received an email from our worker bee Ryan and my sister, Christine. Entirely fulfilling his role as the classic male, Ryan's email was short and to the point, " 20%? That's it?! That's the best you got? "

The response I received from Christine had a little more substance. The important parts were these, " ....I think the price of $2.49 is spot on. I would actually say they are worth more, but you don't want to overdo it. Now I know your overwhelmed, but you can offer more than just 20% off. Why not offer them at $1.49 since it is only short term. And why not offer the discount on all the chocolite bars, not just the peanut butter cup patties.....You mentioned you wanted to reward your current customers and you keep going on and on about how great the Chocolite bars are, so just do it....."

So I gave it some though and you know what, they are both right. You see, this whole, 'rewarding our current customers' thing came about because I realized that with me being stretched thin by my regular job and trying to provide service to our online customers that I sometimes am not able to get back to customers as quickly as I would like when you all have questions or concerns. I want to start providing better customer service to our online customers. Our in store customers always have someone available for questions, but our online questions sometimes do not. I'm actually in the process of training Eric(the new guy) on how to ship packages and soon expanding not only our contact with our online customers, but also our product offerrings(frozen food anyone?). So I thought we would do this discount along with that as a way of saying thanks. And now I realize that if I'm going to reward you, my customer, I've got to give you more.

So, I'm throwing the old discount out the window. The price on the PB Patties is still $2.49. But, the discount on the peanut butter cup patties is now officially 40% and we are throwing in a new discount of 25% on any chocolite bars. All of them will be only $1.49. Similar to all other grocery stores when they have a discount though, we are going to have to put a limit on this - especially since we have opened it up to all the chocolite bars. Right now I'm thinking 4 cases per customer.

Now of course this is a little crazy so we definitely can only do this for a short while. I'm thinking one week max, otherwise we might have some bloggers and other newsletters leaking the word and the discount would be going to customers who haven't shopped with us before. I'm considering throwing in a small bonus to our first 100 orders, but still working out the details. Needless to say, it would be wise to be ready to go and purchase as soon as we reach launch time.

Lastly, I'm pretty sure the launch date will be Weds. but I don't know the time yet. Once I nail it down I will be sure to let you know.

OK, we have approximately a day until the Chocolite Peanut Butter Cup Patties are released and the reward on all the Chocolite products begins. Here are the exact details about when they officially become available.

Online Release Date and Time:

Weds., May 7th at 12:05 pm eastern U.S. time (that's 6:00pm Central, 5:00pm Mountain, and 4:00pm Pacific)

In Store Release Date and Time:

Weds., May 7th at 10 am (when we open)

You sent in some great feedback in regards to price and therefore I've decided to definitely stick with $1.49 during this reward period. At this point we plan on offering the reward until Weds. May 14th, but that could change at any time.

Just a reminder(a couple of you asked via email) the PB Cup Patties are 40 calories each and 0 net carbs. There are two per package. So each package is only 1 WW point. Tomorrow (Weds.) we will be sending you the link to the product page and a notice of the release in the evening. I wish I could do it sooner now that I've decided to just do it, but we are waiting on the product still and I haven't had a chance to see how it is in the new package so I don't want to offer it before I have a quick chance to make sure it lives up to the original samples. I will be tacking a look and hopefully posting some new pictures while doing shipping this evening.

Now I don't want to sound overly dramatic, but it is probably a very good idea to be sitting at your computer and ready to go right when we release. The reason why is that you will want to be among the first 100 people that snaps up at least three cases of the Peanut Butter Cup Patties or Chocolite. I have decided to add to the bonus and reward for our customers.

This all started as a Peanut Butter Bonanza, so why not pull in some other peanut butter products. For the first 100 customers that purchase a minimum of 3 cases of any type of Chocolite, we are going to add a free jar of the wildly popular PB2 Peanut Butter. That means not only is the price only $1.49 for all the Chocolite bars and the Peanut Butter Cup Patties, but you have a chance for a free jar of PB2 as well, which is an additional $6.99 value.

Now I want to be clear here - I am not saying that we will pull the product page offline and stop selling the patties once we hit that 100. But, we can only offer the PB2 deal to the first 100 customers who purchase 3 cases because that is all the PB2 we currently have available and currently in transit to the store.

I have received a number of emails with questions from our in store cutomers about whether we will have enough inventory on hand considering the number of expected online orders. Please note, there is no way we can stock enough Chocolite to meet the expected demand. So, what we plan on doing is of course honoring all online orders placed which will ship once we have all the product(if we run out) and for our in store customers, if we run out we will have a sign up sheet so you can lock in your purchase amounts. That way even once the reward period ends,if we didn't have the product in stock for you to purchae, you will be guaranteed your reward. Keep in mind though, we still need to maintain the 4 case limit.
